Wealth tax fears as Labour uses AI to value all homes
The Welsh Government ordered the programme, which runs on artificial intelligence, to review council tax bands.
Rachel Reeves faces growing calls from Left-wing MPs to slap a levy on the rich, which would be based on assets such as property...
The computer model has been developed by the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), a body within HMRC, for the Labour run Welsh Government.
They were a time-serving lot, who knew how the cat was going to jump, but they kept out of crime and shunned anything imaginative like the plague. I shouldn't think one of them had ever an ambition which couldn't be put in terms of office or money, or a regret except that he had missed a chance of getting at the public purse. Ah, she faces calls from left wing Labour MPs!
So this Labour government, who were voted in by about 20% of the electorate and are now far less popular than they were last year, is being influenced by a small rump of neo-Marxist loons that Starmer was unable to purge. There are probably more people liable to pay a wealth tax than there are calling for it.
Sam - yes, that's a worry, the small rump of neo-Marxist loons. If Labour MPs were generally sensible we might muddle through, but with Starmer's rabble currently leading the pack it's not a bright outlook.
Buchan, eh? Interesting life.
What if the increased cost of owning a home reduces its value.
At least they have found intelligent life in Welsh Government , but it is artificial.
James - and an interesting man. Found the time to write too.
Doonhamer - if the tax leads to reduced taxes elsewhere, it may be a reasonable idea, but it's a big if.
Buchan had a spell as Governor General of Canada. He said "You have to know a Canadian awfully well before you discover his surname."
dearieme - reminds me of grammar school where it was the opposite - all surnames. I can still recall the surnames of former classmates but not always their first names.
So this is what Starmers AI revolution means for us. Higher taxes. Whoda thunk it?
Bucko - yes, higher taxes, always higher taxes.
