Net Zero Defence

PM hails defence sector as offering ‘next generation of secure, well-paid jobs’

Sir Keir Starmer has hailed the defence sector as offering “the next generation of good, secure, well-paid jobs”, after it was announced that defence ministers will set a target for spending money with small businesses.

Officials are looking to boost the access of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to Armed Forces supply chains, following the Prime Minister’s announcement that defence spending would be increased to 2.5% of GDP by 2027.

Hang on - isn't the promise of secure, well-paid jobs one of Ed Miliband's green jobs promises? Maybe we should combine the two promises and think in terms of electric tanks covered in solar panels supported by bamboo gliders armed with scary degradable leaflets...

No that's too silly even for Ed World...

Okay, maybe Ed is on the way out, as save the planet worries veer away from settled science and green jobs to the prospect of not being able to operate the radar except when it's windy.
