Reeves replaces Churchill portrait with tapestry of ‘unknown woman’
Rachel Reeves has replaced a portrait of Winston Churchill with a woollen tapestry depicting an “unknown woman” in Number 11.
The room serves as the Treasury’s principal meeting room and is used to host business leaders and foreign diplomats.
This has the flavour of a bureaucrat's jape to me. Rachel from Accounts having a woolly picture of an 'unknown woman' on the wall - a not so sly dig I'd say. She faces left too.

The trouble is that if the woman is unknown, how do we know she didn't have a racist colonialist war-mongering past?
Bet her vegan friends love that...
Sam - good point, the only safe assumption is that she had a dodgy past and should be cancelled. Turning her picture to the wall is the only safe thing to do.
Scrobs - she has friends?
