It's Mrs H's birthday today so we're off out for coffee and later a spot of lunch. Not much blogging today, but there isn't much going on in the world apart from the traditional stuff - wars, scandals, incompetence and general bungling.
Oh and I think they mean 'defuse' here, not that it matters much -
UK does not want to 'escalate' Donald Trump's trade wars, says Rachel Reeves
The chancellor seeks to diffuse the looming conflict with the US president, who has just promised to impose a new tariff on imported cars.

Spell and grammar checkers have improved considerably over the years. It can only be laziness or carelessness not to use them.
A Freudian slip, maybe? I should think anything to do with Trump gets pretty overpowering at close quarters; a bit of diffusing sounds like a pretty good idea.
Many happy returns to Mrs H.
Sky News, eh? Maybe "diffuse" is the Australian spelling?
The spelling mistake is still up there hours later.
Not that I would have noticed it as I haven't watched Sky News since their disgracefully biased Brexit coverage.
But not for much longer - the network's already tiny viewership has plunged since it was bought from Murdoch by DEI-obsessed Comcast. It'll soon be gone from our screens.
Hope you had a decent two-bottle lunch. I do like me a long boozy lunch.
DJ - yes, it's probably a result of careless reliance on spell and grammar checkers. Easily done, but this is supposedly a major news outfit.
Macheath - thanks and yes, it could be some kind of slip like that, wanting to spread the anxiety around. Understandable perhaps - hence 'coalition of the willing'.
dearieme - or a special Australian 'confuse the Poms' spell checker.
Professor - I don't watch Sky News either, but the online stuff can be okay for blog posting. It was a two coffee lunch though, we've drifted away from the booze for some reason.
Oh fabulous … happy birthday to the lady.
James - thanks, the day went quite well, quiet but pleasant.
