Neglect

 



Cemetery photo taken during a short walk through Matlock two days ago. It doesn't usually look like this, but the word neglect came to mind, associated with the word Britain. Plus this famous quote of course - inevitable really.

Dave - good point and it wouldn't be a surprise if letting it go was some kind of policy along those lines.

Dave's right AK, the boneyard here has specific areas where they only cut the high stuff a couple of times a year. There are also some fabulous new beds of wild flowers - the poppies were amazing this year, and there'll be more next year, hopefully!

I guess that the cost of those monuments in your picture would be astronomical these days! We even have some chest graves which are Grade 1 listed! Can't read them though...
