Not a good move

Scientist set to become Mexico's first woman president after deadliest election with 38 assassinations

Claudia Sheinbaum has won Mexico's election and is set to become the country's first woman president, according to an official quick count...

The 61-year-old climate scientist, who is a former Mexico City mayor, campaigned on continuing the political course set over the last six years by her mentor President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who was elected in 2018.

Unfortunately -

In 2007, she joined the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) at the United Nations in the field of energy and industry, as a contributing co-author on the topic "Mitigation of climate change" for the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report. The group won the Nobel Peace Prize that year. In 2013, she co-authored the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report alongside 11 other experts in the field of industry.

So the Presidential Palace or Mansion will only be powered by renewables then? Or will personal and national security be an excuse used to justify continued use of fossil fuels in this special case?

A politician AND a scientist? There's a double treat to reality . . .

DJ - the Presidential Bicycle and outrider bicycles could all be electric though. But yes, the special case justification seems much more settled than the science.

Jannnie - as Mexicans are destined to find out.

When do the climate activists start assassinating rivals? I mean, if the issue were more serious than mere territorial gain or honour, then political murders and even limited nuclear wars would be a small price to pay for saving the entire human race.

In the absence of bloodshed to rival Ukraine, Gaza, and the narco wars, one might be forgiven for thinking that it's only about middle class people writing papers and getting jobs.

Sam - yes, middle class people writing papers and getting jobs seems to be going global. We could see protection rackets for solar farms too.

"Nice load of solar panels you got 'ere squire. Pity if some of them got broke."
