Sainsbury’s just made major change to parking at its supermarkets with new ‘rules’
The change is all to do with ‘ghost charging’, which is where drivers with EVs will park their cars in charging spot and pretend they are using a charging point, in order to nab a space.
Sainsbury’s has conducted its own research and found that over half of EV drivers admit they have worked the ‘ghost charging’ move, in order to get through the weekly shop in a speedier manner.
I'm astonished, I thought all EV drivers were good people who watch BBC television, read the Guardian and approve of Joe Biden...

There is a small shopping area conveniently located for us. The car park, however, is now effectively smaller than is required because so much of it is given over to chargers. Whenever we visit at most one charger is in use: the rest stand idle. Who pays for this madness?
And what are the shops meant to do about the decline in trade because of the reduced parking space?
It's time for supermarket management to remember that each car, whether ICE or Battery Powered, carries a wallet to their store. The should then reflect on this question. Would I prefer those wallet carriers to be parked in my store's car park, or that of a competitor?
When will the whole madness stop?
dearieme - our local garden centre has installed ten charging points in the car park. It's a big car park so they may not notice the reduction, but at most we see only one car being charged.
decnine - for some reason, the new charging points I've seen take up some of the most popular parking spaces near to the store, which regular shoppers must notice.
James - I'm not convinced it will end, the racketeering must be running things by now.
