Ubiquitous Tony

Boris Johnson dances with ex-Austrian PM as he and Tony Blair enjoy India’s ‘wedding of the century

Boris Johnson waved his hands in the air. Next to him, the former prime minister of Austria Sebastian Kurtz smiled and tapped his feet...

They had come to see Anant Ambani, the 29-year-old son of Asia’s richest man, marry Radhika Mechant, his fiancee, in a ceremony that brought parts of the city to a stand-still.

Arriving for the festivities, Sir Tony Blair and his wife Cherie paused and smiled for the cameras, shuffling into the right spot on the walkway at the request of waiting photographers. Unlike Mr Johnson – who opted for his usual suit and tie - the Labour leader chose a black sherwani jacket with a white pocket square.

In total, 1,200 guests crammed in for the wedding estimated to cost almost £250m, or 0.5 per cent of the Ambani family’s fortune.

How very vulgar. How very Toni & Cherie.

Labour leader, eh? Sloppy sub-editing, or something closer to the truth?

dearieme - yes it's surprising how vulgar wealthy people can be, but I bet Tony and Cherie lapped it up.

Sam - something closer to the truth is my guess. No longer in the HoC probably doesn't count for Blair and probably not for Starmer either. All on the same side.

And taxpayers in the UK still give them all our much-needed money for their rockets and stuff.

That's the last curry I'll ever buy...

Is "ubiquitous" one of these words that has totally changed its meaning?
Or did your schpiel check her decide that "iniquitous" was not suitable?
His black sherwani jacket looks too big for him. Makes his head look shrunken.
Not big enough for his ego, though.

Scrobs - maybe the taxpayers' money ensures deserving causes like Tony are handled in a way he would wish.

Doonhamer - I bet he spent quite a while in front of a full length mirror, gazing at himself in that sherwani jacket. He probably didn't notice his shrunken head at all.

If you squint your eyes, Blair looks a bit like the Michael Keaton character in the final waiting room scene of the film "Beetlejuice".

Maybe Cherie has slyly given him a distorting mirror. Enlarges certain parts of his anatomy.

Penseivat - yes he does, add the eye makeup and he'd be there.

Doonhamer - it's the only way she'll manage it now.
