Countries must protect citizens from unicorn droppings

Europe's highest court rules countries must 'protect citizens from climate change' after legal action by 2,000 Swiss women - paving the way for British eco mobs to force the government to implement green policies

The case could open the door for more legal challenges from eco activists across the continent, including in the UK, where campaigners have been to court in recent months to fight the government on its climate policies.

Greta Thunberg was in the courtroom as the The European Court of Human Rights ruling was announced. 'These rulings are a call to action. They underscore the importance of taking our national governments to court,' the 21-year-old Swede said.

Oh well, apparently the lunacy and racketeering are to continue, but legal bods know best.

IPCC 2001 Assessment Report.

The climate system is a coupled non-linear chaotic system, and therefore the long-term prediction of future climate states is not possible.

Ackshully my memory is that "a coupled non-linear chaotic system" is not enough; it must be a a coupled non-linear chaotic system of order 3 or greater. But I admit that my memory is a fallible tool.

If the climate is changing, then it's only right that the Government should take steps to protect us if they can. But they need to address the consequences, rather than the imagined causes.

It's difficult to know what the government can do to protect us against slightly warmer summers, if indeed there is such a trend. Subsidise ice cream, I guess, and those metallic shade things for car windscreens.

James - trying to compete with all those cuckoo clocks.

dearieme - I read an article about that a while ago, but I can't remember what order it had to be greater than either.

Sam - at least part of the trend seems to be fewer really cold spells, so the government could protect us against that by forcing us to install central heating which works best when it isn't cold.

Having read the report,my reaction as a government would be to give them what they want, good and hard.
Start by banning all vehicles powered by by internal combustion engines, cars, buses, lorries ambulances, fire engines, the lot. Then ban all clothing and footwear containing any oil derived product. Then start on any other product containing oil derived plastics, so no phones, tablets ,computers etc.
See how they get on then with their green, virtue signalling lives.

I had some experience of Swiss women in the 1980s onwards and I formed the impression that they were weird and unhinged.

I also discovered when I visited Switzerland, that they don't make cuckoo clocks, (that's an English misconception), but the women are certainly cuckoo, which is how the myth may have started eh?

dearieme - it's always worth a try.

John - yes, it's about time activists were required to demonstrate carbon neutral living. Set up a village and demonstrate to the rest of the world what's involved.

Tammly - the only time I visited Switzerland was a school trip in the sixties. It seemed detached somehow, not quite part of the outside world.

Bucko - it's becoming difficult to ridicule them, they do it themselves rather well.
