Topped Up

Topped up the 4x4 with diesel this afternoon. Wasn't too bad, didn't take too long and there were no fights. Not as reported in the news at all. I'm not a key worker though - not even a worker. Yet for some reason I don't feel guilty. Maybe I should work on that.

I filled up (as usual) just before the panic started without knowing that there might be a problem. Unless there are some unexpected trips that tankful will probably last me several weeks (I don't do much mileage). Just luck :)

I'm like DJ. My son phoned to tell me about the idiot queues so I told him I had filled two days previously and had three quarters of a tank which should last me a fortnight.

Normally I would not notice these things, a tankful will last a month at least. But I have an eighty-five mile round trip to do Saturday and a hundred and thirty miles range in the tank. Don't want to waste what I have driving around looking for a top-up,

This "key workers" schtick needs to be sat upon.

If the lights go out, or the gas fails, or the network goes down, or the food isn't delivered (or cooked), or the rubbish piles up, who then are the key workers?

Public sector parasites have enough privileges as it is.

DJ and Jannie - we filled up my car just before the panic and Mrs H's car had half a tank so it hasn't been a huge problem. Most of our mileage is discretionary.

djc - that sounds tight but maybe things will have eased by Saturday. Good luck.

Anon - I agree, it's also divisive yet the people pushing the idea of key workers are the first to shout about anything they think is divisive.
