Prince Harry loses challenge to pay for police protection in UK
Prince Harry has lost a legal challenge over his bid to be allowed to make private payments for police protection.
His lawyers wanted a judicial review of the rejection of his offer to pay for protection in the UK, after his security arrangements changed when the prince stopped being a "working royal".
But a judge has ruled not to give the go ahead for such a hearing.
Home Office lawyers had opposed the idea of allowing wealthy people to "buy" security from the police.
Surely Mr Spare, to give him his adopted name, is now so far down the Royal Spares List that he doesn't need police protection. Mrs Spare isn't even a genuine Spare so they don't have much cause for complaint. Stay home and minimise the risk is surely the message here.

It's good news isn't it!
The little chap can easily afford some sort of 'Yankplod' to keep an eye on him and his brood, and as most normal citizens are sick and tired of such posturing from these parasites, he could be well advised to stay quiet where he lives, and we can all get some sleep!
Alas he's not far down the succession list. If William keeps flying with all three children, Prince Spare is only one plane crash from inheriting the throne. Parliament could change that but I doubt they'd have the balls. Anyway, who would they want instead? (Suggestion: Anne.)
Scrobs - it is good news - many people do seem to be tired of them.
dearieme - flying with all three children seems unwise.
He is a sad person. He has no hobby, or posher name for the same, to keep his mind occupied. He has no real job. He has jettisoned former friends and colleagues. He seems to be married to a selfish, narcissistic social climber. He must be aware about gossip about his "father". The need for bodyguards must be only to boost his ego. Or Meagain's. Nobody intends to harm him.
If he looks to the future it must depress him.
Dickens or Hardy could have written a book about him.
His best protection would be the complete renunciation of his title, silence, and a quiet luxurious life in some backwater. He would then be no more at risk than any other millionaire. Private security would sort everything.
Unfortunately he has chosen a means of earning a living that courts publicity and makes him vulnerable.
Doonhamer - yes he is a sad person. All he has are a few flaky "causes" on which he could even have a negative impact as his life is flaky too.
Sam - or his wife has chosen it. She certainly seems to rule him in that respect, but time is not on their side. Already middle aged and predictable, that quiet luxurious life in some backwater could begin to seem attractive.
It woul be so good to hear no more at all, ever, about or from this tedious publicity-seeking entitled pair.
They could appoint him Governor-General of the Bahamas. Know wot I mean?
Peter - that seems to be a general view of them and if they carry on, their unpopularity must surely increase.
dearieme - I assume both of them would end up bleating even more loudly about climate change and sea level rise.
