Rishi Sunak says migration is ‘too high’ after record levels recorded
Net migration into the UK peaked at 745,000 in the year to December 2022, which is a record high according to revised estimates published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Thursday.
The data places migration levels at three times higher than before Brexit, despite a Conservative Party 2019 manifesto pledge to bring overall numbers down.
Servile globalism lurks behind these numbers, the 2022 total being equivalent to the populations of Birmingham and Nottingham arriving every two years. Maybe they all intend to buy an electric car to boost the numbers.
Apart from that it has been a pleasant, sunny day here in Derbyshire. Cold, but that will be due to global warming. Surely the government got that right, surely it understands sustainability.

No, the Government (any of the modern parties) doesn't care to understand 'sustainability' for fear of have do do something about it.
It might be prepared to canvass some charities for their views, or set up some working parties to draw up plans of what questions to ask, plus a coordinating group to steer the progress and provide spokespeople for the media, and for some academics to eventually produce a report... which will be published late in the evening of a Bank Holiday. And then a chum will be given chairmanship of a QUANGO to 'learn lessons'. Who knows all that activity may finally result in the ultimate prize - an official enquiry into how it all went wrong.
But the Government don't really want answers - they want to show how hard they have worked to alleviate the concerns of ordinary people.
It seems that the only ones unhappy with immigration - a fifth of our country having been born overseas, and many of their descendants unwilling to assimilate - are a tiny minority of "far right" troublemakers. And once we've labelled them as racist bigots, we can move on to those idiots who think a woman can't have a penis.
DJ - I agree, there is no evidence that governments go looking for answers, it would be like asking for the "answer" to a play. The performance is everything, the show must go one, the audience must be entertained, but "answers" are not part of the show, not part of their world.
Sam - and it's surprising how many of those tiny minorities we have, those who understand gender, don't want to be forced to buy an electric car, don't want to be forced to buy a heat pump and think immigration numbers are too high.
