Labour in racism row after source blames Hamas for predicted mayoral loss
Labour is embroiled in an internal racism row after a party source appeared to blame Hamas supporters for a predicted loss in the West Midlands mayoral election.
MPs reacted angrily after a quote from an insider appeared, saying a Tory victory would be thanks to “the Middle East, not West Midlands”.
Backbenchers decried the remarks for conflating Muslim voters with Hamas, with the Labour Party later distancing itself from the “racist” comment.

Nothing racist in citing Hamas. Their supporters are out in force in London every weekend, and seem to be refreshingly multi-racial. Lots of burly Asian youths, a few blacks, and some nice middle-class white kids in keffiyahs. Looks like a remake of"Lawrence of Arabia".
Sir IKEA has bent over backwards to ensure that none of the sensitive groups which support Labour have any public reason for hurt feelings. But underneath the surface the unpleasant '-ism' currents still run, and every now and again a ripple reaches the surface.
When (probably) Labour form the next Government these tensions may well erupt into public visibility to the discomfort of us all.

Sam - very much like a remake of "Lawrence of Arabia", although maybe there is at least one group which isn't joining in for some reason.
DJ - yes, pigeons/roost even before the general election. There are some extremely unpleasant -ism currents not very far underneath the surface and they won't stay underneath the surface.
Toni Blair's trick to make it easier for Moslems to cheat in voting was always likely to rebound on Labour sometime.
It's just a pity that there's was no first rebound when people realised how racist the dim little fellow was.
dearieme - yes it's a pity there was no first rebound. It's a pity the disaster Blair represents is not more widely accepted.
