Always pleasant to hear it said again

Dominic Cummings unveils plans for new party to replace the Tories

Dominic Cummings has unveiled plans for a new “Start-Up Party” which he claims could replace the Conservatives.

Speaking to the i paper in his first interview since leaving Downing Street in 2020, Boris Johnson’s former chief adviser said the new party could capitalise on the expected collapse in the Tory vote at the next general election...

“The Tories now obviously represent nothing except a continuation of the sh-- show; higher taxes, worse violent crime, more debt, anti-entrepreneurs, public services failing, immigration out of control,” said Mr Cummings...

Mr Cummings also said a Keir Starmer-led Labour government would offer no meaningful change from the Tories.

“They’ve got a duff leader who’s s--t at politics, can’t communicate, doesn’t actually have any picture of how he wants to be different, he just wants him to be in charge of the broken old institutions and then do what the Civil Service tell him to do all day,” he said.

He added that the quality of Labour MPs was not high and would make it harder for Sir Keir to deliver what voters want.

We know all this, but always pleasant to hear it said again, even from Dominic Cummings.

Unfortunately all the prophets of necessary change (Cummings, Farage, Tice, even Liz Truss) are monstered by the Bureaucracy/Media complex.

This is hardly news... even the Bible recorded "Verily I say unto you, no prophet is accepted in his own country." Luke 4:24.

It is no longer good enough to have a good enough new idea, you have to bring with you your own legion of supporters to back you up. Farage did it once with the Brexit Referendum (although it took him decades to generate enough support), and Liz Truss failed at the start.

I don't think Cummings has a chance.

Agreed. His SatNav is working as well as anybody's, and he has told us that we are somewhere up shit creek.

I'd be interested to see what sort of paddle he's thinking of building, although I'm not hopeful.

After arrest, charge, trial, conviction, and sentencing, Mr Cummings should be hanged for treason over his contribution to the Covid debacle.

Along with Boris, Starmer, Matt Hancock, Chris Whitty, Vallance, ...

Am I the only one who smiled at the thought of "just checking my vision" Cummings, talking to the "i" newspaper. More free publicity for Specsavers?

I'm with dearieme on that.

DJ - I agree, Cummings has no chance, no party would want his abrasive version of always being right.

decnine - it's Cummings who won't be welcome.

Sam - I'm not hopeful about his paddle either. He's a pundit who seems to think there are worthwhile policies only he is aware of, yet simply repealing damaging legislation would do.

dearieme - I agree, it's time we took treason more seriously, although jail would do for me.

Penseivat - I'd forgotten that excuse, maybe Specsavers offered to sponsor him.

Just a thought on that most recent Conservative MP to defect to Labour. Her hair is far too good for the Labour Party. It will end in tears.

Tammly - jail will do for me. No parole of course.

dearieme - ha ha, yes she needs to make it less tidy and preferably stick out at odd angles.

La Rayner will have her metaphorical claws out for Natalie.
Someone better looking than the Flabbototamous? More charisma than Surkeer? A person with a symmetrical face? Someone who has not done the cunning "Principal habitation" cunning wheeze tax thing yet?
It all comes down to a growler contest. Veeerrie eenteresting.
By the way, 'n' that, what has happened to Dame Nugee?

Doonhamer - yes it's not looking good for a united front already. Poor Starmer must wonder why he didn't go in for something more suited to his talents such as...
