Dearly beloved, we gather here today to mark the departure of "supercharge", kick-start", and "catalyse" from our official cliche list.

I'm all for turbocharging stuff, but only if we fix the foundations, get rid of the far right, and support hard-working families. And make everyone's dad a toolmaker.

dearieme - our official cliche list has been reimagined and taken to the next level of paradigm shifts.

Sam - and to make it more palatable, we could raise the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week.

It has to be turbocharged spending because it 'promises' more than ordinary spending. And ordinary spending is difficult to justify if there is a £20 billion black hole to fill.

DJ - and oddly enough that black hole probably came about because of spending which wasn't turbocharged, suggesting that 'turbocharged' means less.

A turbocharger only works on an engine that is already running.
Going on this analogy of an economy being an engine running on money, the Surkeir team have just flooded the engine. And the fuel tank is nearly dry .
Oh, and the electricity supply, our battery, is close to collapse.
