Don’t go outside in the morning or evening, NHS warns as Britain braces for snow
The NHS has warned people not to go out early in the morning or late at night as the country braces for three days of snow.
It has also urged people to stock up on food and medication amid warnings over the risks to health as temperatures plummet over the next week.
This feels like a pandemic hangover where influential loons seem to have enjoyed inflicting something akin to house arrest on millions of people. Apart from themselves of course.
Mrs H and I went out fairly early this morning, but how did we manage such an alarming escapade without keeling over with instant hypothermia?
Well we wore our winter clothing, hats, gloves and walking shoes with thick soles and a good tread. Somehow we survived, so we went out again for a coffee. For some reason lots of other people did that too, although I don't know how they managed it. They must have cheated winter in some way.

The dog is not going to like that. She might have an accident by the front door if she doesn't go out. That's a health risk, for sure.
Three days of snow?
They don’t know they’re born, do they.
Heaven help them if anything serious ever happens. How will the poor dears manage?
Sam - you may have to let her out but pretend she's a St Bernard in case anyone notices. A little barrel of brandy round her neck could make it more convincing.
Peter - they may even begin to think global warming might be a good idea after all.
It's so cool here I'm wearing track suit bottoms indoors, instead of mooching around in my nightshirt as usual.
Far too sensible, AKH. You’ll be banned for that.
I don't like to drive to the supermarket when it's frosty outside so I keep a week's stock of chicken and mince in the freezer, few butter bean tins in the larder, just in case. From the local co-op I can always pick up a few beers. Rice I buy in 10kg sacks. This is not difficult, almost anyone can do it.
dearieme - I wear tracksuit bottoms indoors, but no nightshirt.
James - a knock on the door?
Anon - we rely on Tesco deliveries, but must have a week's worth of food anyway, probably more. Two freezers would keep us going, but even if the power goes off we have lots of tinned and dry food. It just seems like the sensible thing to do these days.
