Ed's phone will be heating up too

Electric cars can 'explode' and the public must be warned say worried UK fire chiefs

Fire chiefs say the public must be told about the huge fire risks posed by electric vehicles, as the Government presses ahead with a ban on new petrol and diesel cars.

Damaged vehicles could burst into "explosive" flames and fires could resume days after they appeared to have been extinguished according to the National Fire Chiefs Council, the professional voice of the UK fire and rescue service.

Blazes could also release toxic fumes and even the water used to put out electric vehicle fires could become poisonous and pollute the environment.

In a dramatic statement to MPs, the NFCC called for warnings to be installed at electric vehicle charging points across the country.

What good will that do? The warnings should be displayed in car showrooms.

Given that traffic has been paralysed on occasion in Londonistan, epicentre of the known universe, I'm surprised that it's taken this long for someone to notice . . .

Weird Ed is probably busy counting his kitchens. It's been years since we learnt he had three; how many does he have now? I think we should be told. And, naturally, we should be told about his heat pump system.

Come to think of it, can we be told about the heat pump installations at No 10 & No 11 too? And the one for Angie's new flat?

Sam - ha ha, but good point, it should. Imagine the outcry from the usual suspects.

Jannie - it seems to be one those problems which has been known for ages by everyone who pays attention. Eventually some official outfit realises that ignoring it could have repercussions.

dearieme - it it three now? Maybe he buys an extra kitchen whenever he feels the need to achieve something which goes as planned.
