There really can be no comment. The daily examples of poor behaviour are in their faces - but they are not permitted to see them or do anything.

So people vote with their feet if they can.

I liked the phrase "reality is always the final arbiter". One wonders what these people think they are doing. Maybe they just don't think of the unintended consequences, once they select their chosen value and start implementing the policies they think will further it. They develop a sort of selective blindness and can't see what disproves their theory, because acknowledging it would prove them wrong.

So often these days I'm reminded of that Kipling poem:

DJ - yes, many do vote with their feet and businesses do too, or they simply close.

Sam - it's certainly not easy to imagine what these people think they are doing. They probably do develop a selective blindness which is largely shared by their social and political peers. Thanks for the link, the poem is worth a blog post of its own.
