Smirnoff heiress filmed driving through Hyde Park while on her phone by ‘CyclingMikey’

TV star Marinika Smirnova was one mile from her £4.7m Kensington home when she was recorded by the road safety YouTuber

“CyclingMikey”, whose real name is Michael Van Erp, was walking his bike through the park when he spotted Smirnova at the wheel of her red 3.8 litre Porsche, with personalised number plate SM11NOV.

He has posted the Smirnova encounter on his YouTube channel for the benefit of his 100k followers and the footage was also played in court to the magistrates.

The average speed of London traffic is reported to be 7.8mph so the dangers posed by a distracted driver are obvious.

Top of the range Porsches with personalised number plates are bound to attract the sort of attention you don't want, as well as the sort you do want.

If I was stinking rich I would own a right hand drive car with realistic dummy in the passenger seat sitting behind a big dummy steering wheel waving a mobile phone about in one hand and can of lager in the other. Lots of video cameras concealed inside and out. When bored I would take it out and pootle about.
Such larks.

Porsche Cayman (I think that is the model) weighs 1385kg according to their website. Travelling at 12.5km per hour (your average speed assessment) that equates to Kinetic Energy of approx 8.5kJ - not sure I'd want to be hit by that if I was a pedestrian or a cyclist, TBH.

Hopefully we have a rules based society - play by them, all is well. Don't... then take the consequences.

Don't like the rules? Then agitate (vote, campaign.... whatever) to get them changed.

As @SV said - Woman's an attention seeking fuckwit so deserves to get her collar felt.

You would have thought that the owner of such a car, with a personalised number plate, would have used a hands free option (built in or added later). There are plenty of people around who are keen to draw attention to people with posh cars doing wrong.

Sam - yes, that's the point of the car. As for the mobile phone use, she paid the fine, didn't attend court and life goes on.

Doonhamer - that sounds like a good idea. Maybe the dummy could also have one bare foot on the dashboard.

Shiney - I'm sure you are right the effects of a collision, but the case made almost no difference to her and we have to think about obsessive informers on the lookout for any violation of an increasingly complex web of laws and regulations.

DJ - yes it seems like the obvious thing to do. As if she wanted the attention and the media coverage.

I think you missed out "Tw" when showing Mikey's real surname.
