Climate change: Six young activists take on 32 governments in court case which could be legal 'game-changer'

The largest climate case ever heard by the European Court of Human Rights has opened in Strasbourg. The "unprecedented" case could force governments to accelerate their climate change efforts and set a precedent for future legal battles.

The six activists - aged between 11 and 24 - have filed the case against the 27 EU member states as well as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Russia and Turkey.

Six people between 11 and 24? I wonder where they got the money for such a court case?

' "This is truly a David and Goliath case," said Gearóid Ó Cuinn, the director of the UK-based non-profit organisation Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) that's been supporting the group.'

That's a great name for an organisation for bell ends.

Bucko - they seem to be backed by a creepy legal outfit and no doubt there are more creeps behind them. Layer upon layer.

Sam - and we must assume the acronym didn't ring any bells with those sharp legal minds before they chose it. Yes, it is a great name for an organisation for bell ends.

dearieme - it's the only safe thing to do. Sean is another option.

Bucko - yes it's disgraceful but they do it all the time. I don't know why they aren't ashamed of themselves.
