A health and safety issue

Trident: Second nuclear test failure forces Government to defend deterrent

A Cabinet minister was forced on Wednesday to stress the Government’s “complete confidence” in Britain’s nuclear deterrent after a second failed test.

Health Secretary Victoria Atkins, on the media round for the Government, insisted the latest mishap was down to an “anomaly” and that it had been “event specific”.

She was questioned on the issue after a Trident missile tested as part of the UK’s nuclear deterrent programme failed for a second time - with the dummy reportedly “plopping” into the sea beside the Royal Navy submarine it was fired from.

I'm not sure why the Health Secretary had to respond, but presumably those responsible won't come out of their bunkers. Maybe they have told her it's a health and safety issue, which in a sense it is.

Perhaps this also means the UK has the most dangerous nuclear arsenal in the world. I'll email my MP and suggest the Health Secretary could be asked to comment on this too.

We'll be just fine, providing an enemy doesn't present us with an event.

I understand the latest response to the threat of an attack on the UK is a recorded message, saying, "We surrender" in Arabic, Chinese, and Russian.

We'll have to cart them all over there in EVs

Alan - at this rate some kind of tipping point seems possible as has happened in other countries. Could be anything but it seems possible.

Sam - "oops wrong country - but it was event specific."

Penseivat - isn't that the message already sent to the UN?

Bucko - maybe they are already working on electric missiles and that was the problem, the battery caught fire.

A K Haart - You might be on to something...

I think that I can see what the problem was.
Either the piston seal on their Projectile Primary Pressurising Pump had perished due to lack of use - see explanatory video below. So optimum projectile launch pressure was never reached.
Or the floggle toggle in launch initiation activator flux capacitor had been fitted the wrong way round.

Doonhamer - with a working flux capacitor that guy in the video could have sent his bottle into the past. First strike capability.

I thought that “event specific” was the outcome of a dodgy 'Ruby Murray'...

You can't trust these HOC caterers can you!

Scrobs - maybe that why they have to nip out to vote every now and then, it allows the chamber to clear.
