King Charles's freezers help save food for a million meals
The donation of freezers by King Charles has helped a food charity double the amount of food it can provide for struggling families.
A year ago, through a royal charity, the King gave £1m to buy 800 freezers.
The Felix Project in London is saving the equivalent of almost a million meals a year, using food which would otherwise be thrown away.
Another food project in Towcester said the freezers had been a "game-changer" when demand had been rising sharply.
Oh well, sometimes it's necessary to peer down the rabbit hole -
- Are these Royal Freezers powered by Good Electricity?
- Are they designed to reject Bad Electricity?
- Are there any Evil Plastics in them?
- Are they likely to have activists glued to them?
- Will they still work during climate collapse?

djc - he does seem to be on a roll at the moment.
That's £1250 per freezer. Either he hasn't been told about bulk buying discounts, or he's intending to open them all at once when the temperatures rise next summer.
What is the equivalent of a million meals?
And
A million from the billion or so he, Crown Estates, gets from the struggling UK people suffering energy poverty via the take from offshore wind farms.
Just a rounding error. Such generosity.
No wonder he is a "greenie".
Sam - or they could be a special Duchy Originals brand of freezer with a picture of a crown on the door.
Doonhamer - yes it's a PR gesture, nothing else.
"he, Crown Estates, ..." You've got that wrong. Crown Estates is an arm of government.
A portion of their profits pays for the Crown, replacing the old Civil List.
dearieme - that reminds me of Willie Hamilton's book, My Queen and I. I bought a copy of it when it first came out in the 1970s. Well written I thought, but I still remember wondering why he took it all so seriously.
