A dodgy nurses Metro story by Dawn Butler
Dangerous people are pretending to be nurses - I have a plan to stop it
Now, I believe we have an amazing opportunity under a Labour Government – which I know truly cares about the safety of patients.
And we have ready-made legislation to fix this issue – my Nurses (Use of Title) Bill has been published and presented to Parliament, and is awaiting Second Reading on June 20.
But we don’t have to wait – the Government, if it so chooses, can accept my Bill now and bring it into law.
Gosh, this could multiply, so how about -
An Economist (Use of Title) Bill
A Climate Scientist (Use of Title) Bill
An Expert (Use of Claim) Bill
A Fact Check (Use of Claim) Bill
A Miliband (Use of Nonsense) Bill
An Expert (Use of Claim) Bill
A Fact Check (Use of Claim) Bill
A Miliband (Use of Nonsense) Bill

What about a "Butler (use of surname) Bill? Butlers should serve their employers diligently, keeping unobtrusively in the background.
“ My message to ministers is: Details will of course need to be worked out…”
That’s probably the understatement of the year! I don’t know whether to be amused or appalled that she actually thinks her proposed law will prevent someone with nefarious intentions using the title in cases like those she describes (especially given the glacial pace of the judicial system).
I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised - after all, Ms Butler inhabits a world where children are born without a definite sex and 90%of giraffes are gay - but it’s worrying to think she actually has an assigned role in the government of the country.
Sam - good point, especially the unobtrusive requirement.
Macheath - and she probably doesn't care if her proposed law can't be made to work, the only point of it is that it should be her law and raise her profile in a positive way. Making it work is a job for others, even if it is absurdly impossible.
Devoted family man (Use of Claim) Bill
dearieme - I don't know why he still hides it.
We have dangerous people pretending to be the Country's rulers, that's for sure.
Tammly - yes we do and none of them seem to be sane.
