New report shows it’s largely officials and organizations demanding books be banned - not parents
A new report reveals the vast majority of those demanding book bans are organizations or officials — not individual parents.
Seventy-two percent of demands to censor books in schools have come from organizations that include elected officials, board members and administrators, according to the American Library Association.
Parents only accounted for 16 percent of book ban demands, while individual library users made up five percent.

Yes, it makes perfect sense. The intolerant and interfering types will band together in order to strengthen their cause; and organisations and officials will look around to find something to justify their existence. Calling for a ban fits the bill perfectly, as it costs nothing and looks brave.

Well seeing the books pictured in the article, maybe more parents should get on board with them being banned.
Banned in this context, being not made available to young children in schools, because they contain completely age inappropriate content, bordering on the pornographic
Of course they can still be accessed and read by adults, or read to children by parents, if that's their thing, so not actually banned
Bucko - I agree, parents make themselves aware of books available in schools. In the past it wasn't necessary, but it is now.
