Met Office warns of sunburn risk as temperatures soar to 22C across UK
The Met Office has urged Britons to put protect themselves from the sun this week, as the UK prepares to bask in temperatures as high as 22C.
The mercury is set to climb gradually this week and could peak at 22C on Thursday in the south of England, the Met Office said.
This means the UK could be enjoying sunny weather with temperatures even higher than Athens or Barcelona on Thursday, where highs of 17C and 16C are forecast respectively.

When we sallied forth on Saturday we saw some magnificent magnolias in one of the villages. So far this has been rather a good Spring. Hurray for Global Boiling!
The Met office must be in the pay of Big Sun Cream
Yet more exaggeration, scaremongering and downright bollox from Mystic Met . . .
I've been sunburnt a number of times in my life particularly as a young child. I'm still here without injury, so I can probably chance my arm by going outside.
There was a day last week when I missed the weather warning, and went for a walk along the promenade in Southsea. OK, the Met Office said there was a chance of slight drizzle, but didn't publish any warnings as to what might happen as a result. I was quite shocked to find my trousers actually got damp.
Damp trousers can be quite a nasty thing. I'm pretty well-educated, but I'm not by any means a trained meteorologist or expert in calculating statistical risk. So come on, Met Office, publishing a lot of technical jargon is all very well, but let's hear what that actually means for people.
dearieme - we've seen some fine magnolias round here too. Ours had to come down as it became too big, but now we miss it.
Bucko - doubles all round chaps!
Jannie - Mystic Met - I like that, must pinch it.
Tammly - I've been sunburnt a few times too, as with any other lesson experience counts, not Met Office wittering.
Sam - damp trousers can be deadly, so much so that the Met Office should devise a damp trouser warning symbol for drizzle.
Sam, the answer is to swagger about in a kilt.
All those Imams have the correct advice, especially for women, to avoid sunburn, and they don't have to wait until the sun comes out. They can spend the rest of the year preparing.
Penseivat
dearieme - not too much swagger though.
Penseivat - although they may need vitamin D tablets.
