The lost tribe of Westminster
A MAN has been arrested for ‘recklessly endangering’ an archaic tribe by invading their secretive enclave in London. Cutting themselves off from the reality of today’s world, the Empees have lived for several centuries in a closely-guarded compound overlooking the Thames.
Anthropologists believe there are shifting alliances within the tribe, who are thought to number about 650, but they are generally divided into two main castes. However, there is little real difference between either group. The tribe’s current chief is believed to be known as Tooteer and their high priest is called Edbangah, who leads them in worship of wind and sun gods.

From which we could conclude that '650' means 'too many'.
Imagine the turmoil if it was to be announced that the number of MPs would be reduced by each resignation or retirement until a more sleek and effective body remained.
Very nice little piece, and well written, but the conceit breaks down a little too early. The inhabitants of North Sentinel Island don't harm anyone outside of their own society. We are living in a situation where it's more like ignorant savages have inexplicably been given the ability to remotely vote for laws outside of their own islands, in a world they don't understand. And ethically, it's worse. Working class harridans like Rayner and Jess Phillips claim to know all about the struggles of poor people, but routinely act as if they are on the side of the parasites.
DJ - that would be fun, political musical chairs going on for a number of years. There is no obvious lower number to aim for either, no number where they might cease to be useless.
Sam - I like it because of the thought "hang on, living on some equivalent of North Sentinel Island sounds attractive". Rayner and Phillips are definitely on the side of the parasites.
