Another setback for Sir Keir

From the Grauniad

John Bercow defects to Labour with withering attack on Johnson

John Bercow, the former Tory MP and Speaker of the House of Commons, today delivers an extraordinary broadside against Boris Johnson and the Conservative party as he announces he has switched his political allegiance to Labour.

In an explosive interview with the Observer, Bercow says he regards today’s Conservative party as “reactionary, populist, nationalistic and sometimes even xenophobic”.

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, his supposed impartiality as Speaker rubbed off rather easily.

Whereas the Labour party is perhaps radical, elitist, globalist and sometimes even anti-semitic. Bercow should fit right in.

No need to Take The Knee, Bercow. We don't do that any more, so you can stand up.
But I am standing.
Oh.

Maybe he fancies a run for leader after Sir Kier gets the push.

Will one more deadbeat no-hoper make any difference? I trust not.

Ah, Bercow. He did the same degree as me at the same University, taught by the same lecturers, a few years later.

Where did it all go so wrong for him?

I don't know what to say. The current Conservative party seems to fit quite easily in the Harold Wilson Labour Party. So Bercow has moved from Major era vacuity to somewhere to the left of Corbyn and Abbott? Why did he become Speaker?

Bercow has always suffered from the classic stereotyped small man syndrome, his moment of great power as the squeaker was taken with both hands and he loved it, appalling little shit, though to be fair that applies to any number in the HoC.

"A Berk married to a Cow", still applies to this vain little fellow. A few more like him on board and the sinking ship that is The Layabout Party will founder.

DJ - he seems to think so too.

Doonhamer - at least that's one bright spot - the jokes.

decnine - that's my take on it. He sees it as an opportunity.

Jannie - I hope not, but he's a pushy little shit.

Sam - maniacal ambition and the skin of a rhino seems to be the answer.

Graeme - I think he always wanted to be Speaker and went for it. Small field perhaps.

Wiggia - he is an appalling little shit and I hope even the Labour party finds it can't stomach him.

Ed - another hole in the sinking Labour ship is what I'm hoping for, although the party may knock him on the head before he climbs aboard.

Scrobs - don't knock it, this could be entertaining.
