Banned from eBay

I've watched quite a number of this chap's videos. He restores vintage cars, often British, and goes into great detail about the restoration process. I find the videos interesting, even though his expertise is way beyond mine, but this one describes how he was banned from eBay when trying to sell one of his completed projects.

The first part of the story had a depressing sense of familiarity about it. Something goes wrong, you try to fix it, you go in pointless circles using AI, you request contact with a real human, you get an Indian who knows more about managing emotions than fixing your problem, you spend more time establishing your identity than sorting anything.

I've been through all that just because the numbers on my credit card wore out.

I watched all that video and was quite surprised, as I sell a lot of stuff there myself, including buying and selling cars on occasion. He's clearly American, so maybe it's different there, but his experiences are a lot different to mine.

Firstly, the first thing I type in the customer service chatbot, is 'I want to speak to an assistant'. That's the end of the chatbot and an assistant will phone me within five minutes. From abroad, granted (It's a multi national company), but I've never had occasion to complain about ebay customer service

Also, when listing, you can skip straight past the AI generated descriptions and enter your own, then change any of the pre-filled stuff in the listing body

And he also states that he is banned from Ebay for life, when his account has only been suspended, possibly for the reasons he mentions at the end. Very strange video

Sam - our experience with AI in similar contexts hasn't been too bad, although the people you eventually reach can be uninterested script readers. At this point it seems to be a matter of luck, you get someone competent or you don't.

Bucko - I don't know much about the eBay process, but it sounds to me as if he has become associated with someone else via the system which checks who you are. He seems to think there is a third party system which eBay uses, maybe it's that.

I checked before posting to see if the issue has been corrected because it sounds like one which should be corrected eventually.
