C of E divests of fossil fuels as oil and gas firms ditch climate pledges
Church sheds holdings from pension and endowment funds after U-turns by BP and Shell
The Church of England is divesting from fossil fuels in its multibillion pound endowment and pension funds over climate concerns and recent U-turns by oil and gas companies.
The church said it was abandoning oil and gas companies and all firms primarily engaged in the exploration, production and refining of oil or gas by the end of 2023, unless they were in genuine alignment with a 1.5C reduction pathway.
The alignment is with a genuine political pathway towards global corporatism, not a fantasy pathway to a managed climate.

I wonder why they think God made the oil?
Not surprising that the congregations make less hot air when only a few of them are dotted around the churches these days...
Apparently, our vicar says that he 'owns' his church, so he's yet aother Godbotherer in fantasy land!
We had no bells last weekend, as presumably just one ringer turned up,and you can't have a toll bell going then...
When I used to ring them, we had practice for at least twenty ringers every Friday, then all round the pub afterwards!
Sam - it surprises me that Welby isn't more aloof when it comes to the fashions of the day. He must have some inkling that pretending to control the climate is at least iffy.
Scrobs "When I used to ring them, we had practice for at least twenty ringers every Friday"
That's quite a rate of decline over the years. Welby ought to be more concerned with that than climate nonsense.
Sigh. Yes.
James - he could be there for years too.
