Derbyshire roads are the worst in England.
Derbyshire drivers face the worst road conditions in the country, latest research reveals
The recent research by the Bill Plant Driving School has found that roads in Derbyshire are the worst in England.
Their recent study looked into the number of A-roads and motorways across the country which are in poor condition, and likely to need maintenance within the next year.
A claim to fame I suppose. This morning we buzzed off to Matlock in the MX5 with the top down. It's a good car for weaving around potholes.

Twenty-five years since I drove the sole road around Monte Argentario in a MX5. Potholes! it was barely a track; passed more than one unfortunate with a broken suspension. But the MX5 got around, I'm not really a car person (I've only owned five in 50 years) but that was certainly the best.
If you have worse potholes than us, they must truly be a sight. Some of ours are now established carp lakes, where blokes in bobble hats gather at night. Our enterprising neighbour is hunting fossils in one outside his garage.
djc - that must have been quite a drive in spite of the state of the road.
Sam - I've seen worse roads in Nottinghamshire and Devon, but that's a pretty limited sample. Even so, I saw a couple of Devon potholes which were bigger than any I've seen in Derbyshire.
