Interesting direction

This graph of BBC News viewer numbers was presented to me after posing a question to the Bing AI system. As you can see, it only goes up to 2019 and presumably is TV viewing figures only.

Currently the BBC probably adds in every single internet click, but still an interesting graph as a sign of the times.

If they didn't get the licence fee, their subscription rates would have to dive faster than that line in order to attract viewers and readers.

Looking at the BBC today, first thing this morning was nothing but the Oscars. So dumbing down and concentrating on showbiz didn't work. And now it's how the senior management caved in to Lineker. That won't work either.

A really interesting angle is how the BBC news team seem to be staunchly pro-Lineker, and delight in the travails of their bosses. It's a funny old organisation, to be sure.

I prefer Inspector Morse: it's fiction too but the scripts are more plausible.

I prefer Midsomer Murders. There are plenty of cunning murders, with many distractions, but that doesn't stop the murderer being court. Plus very little 'woke', even in the later series.

Sam - it is a funny old organisation. It would probably be a better organisation if it got rid of those staunchly pro-Lineker people. For some reason it doesn't, which is odd.

dearieme and DJ - we're watching a fifties Hitchcock series at the moment. Rather like Tales of the Unexpected, it's not very plausible but Hitchcock is a better presenter than anyone the BBC has available.
