Dear me - first Brexit and now this

Riots erupt in Brussels after Morocco pull off World Cup upset beating Belgium

Philippe Close, the mayor of Brussels, urged football fans to stay away from the city centre and said authorities were doing their utmost to keep order in the streets.

Riots have broken out in Brussels after Morocco shocked Belgium by winning 2-0 during a World Cup clash in Qatar.

Police were forced to seal off parts of Brussels as they tried to disperse crowds.

Officers deployed water cannons and fired tear gas to halt dozens of rioters.

Cars were pelted with bricks and steps were set on fire, while one person suffered facial injuries, according to Brussels police spokeswoman Ilse Van de Keere.

Serious business, this football.

The EU solution to this sort of problem is to import so many Moroccans that the miserable Belgians will be swamped by the jubilant immigrants. There's no "us and them" in a fully globalised world.

Is that Moors celebrating?

I have not heard this reported on the BBC.

So did the Belgian football rioters learn by example? From the way England football goers behaved in the 1970s 80s 90s? Or is this something the Belgians did all by them selves? Could this be what the pundits mean when they talk about Britain leading by example?

With all the upsets in the World Cup you have to wonder if the favoured national teams have not been jointly operating under a delusion that they are adequate. Perhaps they have been more concerned about being Social Warriors than Football Warriors - and this dilution of purpose tells.

James - seems to be more serious than freedom for some.

Sam - it seems to be a general solution - swamp the locals and confuse their loyalties.

dearieme - it could be - hard to see through all the 'celebrations'.

James S - you seem to be right. I took a quick look after posting and couldn't see it on the BBC site and still can't see it.

Tammly - they may have learned from BLM - Belgium Losing Matters.

DJ - maybe it's a wealth and celebrity effect - they are concerned about being Social Warriors like other wealthy celebrities.
