It is rather difficult for me to trust TM after her apparent attempt to sabotage Brexit. Although this time she has covered herself in glory with that small speech. I still can't help feeling a little distrustful though, old habits die hard.
If - *if* - Omicron is as mild as many say there will not be a large number of deaths and the Government Plan B will be seen as an overreaction (at best). And in that case Professor John Edmunds, a member of the SAGE panel that advises the Government should be dismissed for spreading panic.
I notice that Neil Ferguson who felt obliged to resign because a tryst with his lover during the Big Lockdown has started making media appearances again (full of doom of course). So there's hope for Boris who it is said didn't even go to the Christmas party.
DJ - it is disappointing that people such as Neil Ferguson make it back into the spotlight. He provides the dramatic pronouncements of course, but his hypocrisy should not be forgotten so quickly.

"Leading" "sage" and "scientist" - pick any for an oxymoron in the making.
Certainly the pharmaceutical sector of the economy won't be stopping and starting, will it?

Jannie - I can't think of "sage" without thinking of "stuffing".
Sam - good point. It would be useful to know how they see their future and therefore ours.
Andy - I don't trust here either, but maybe it's the stopped clock effect. Or maybe with the pressure off she speaks more freely.

Hypocrisy has a very short half life now.

"There will not be a large number of deaths"
Unless the situation has changed over the last day or so, Alec Baldwin has actually killed more people than the "Moronic" CV variant...
microdave - although soon enough there will probably be cases of "death with omicron".
microwave - "...Alex Baldwin has actually killed more people...."
Brilliant. With your permission, sir, would like to use your comment.
"microdave" not "microwave". This predictive text is a bastard.
