Massive Change

Source

As we know, much like Windows and Tesla cars, our language undergoes frequent upgrades. As we see from the above headline, the meaning of the word ‘massive’ has recently been upgraded to include ‘disappointing’ as one of its definitions.

On seeing this relatively new upgrade, many people are bound to wonder if their own language is up to date and if they should download the latest version. A quick test is the latest language entry for words such as ‘integrity’.

Integrity

Obs noun. Scheduled for cancellation.

If you are aware of any other meaning for the word ‘integrity’ then you are using an obsolete language version and may wish to consider upgrading.

I dare say it's an allusion to the Old Bexley and Sidcup Massive, a gang of local hooligans and hoodlums.

Or maybe that's the Labour Party.

There's also a "missive result", where Labour win because of postal voting fraud.

What is mildly interesting is that the Green Party and Liberal Democrats both lost their deposits, but Reform UK didn't.

But a massive result, no. Newspapers trying to generate more eyeballs or clicks to sell advertising space by exaggerating events.

Crying wolf! Leads to important events being ignored. COVID is important but is becoming humdrum despite pundits predicting the end of the world. Climate Change is important but has been oversold by activists and so become just background noise. Remainers are still trying to convince people that the sky is falling but now sound more and more demented.

Keeping calm and carrying on - that's massive.

I reckon that 'Integrity' means something like 'into gritty music' so loved by the thick, stupid idiots who infest the hours of midnight to dawn with helpless rubbishy rap and lame excuses for living.

Me? Rant?

dearieme - I hear they even take the wicker baskets off the front of their bikes.

Sam - yes it's time postal voting was scrapped.

DJ - looking around me I think people generally do keep calm and carry on. Almost as if the media hype is treated as a visit to Bedlam. People come away thinking "I'm glad I'm not like that."

Scrobs - rap music seems to be a pretty good clue to general uselessness.

I barely noticed in 2021.

Until I read this post I was quite unaware there was a by-election going on. I still haven't bothered to see out the details of the result. The benefit of having no tv, not using a radio, buying no newspaper.

James - that's because there isn't much of it on public display.

djc - I often ponder the advantages of keeping further away from the clamour.
