Long distance shopping
A cousin of mine lives alone here in the UK. She also lives a long way from the rest of the family and has become forgetful when it comes to shopping. Her son and daughter-in-law live in Canada so to get round the shopping problem my cousin's daughter-in-law organises regular online deliveries from Sainsbury's.
Really there is nothing remarkable about that and it is a simple enough thing to do these days, but it does highlight the power of the internet.

So long as they know what faggots are.
I was nearly banned from Ebay the other day, as they didn't have my latest details for paying INTO my account!
We'd sold 'One foot in the grave' as we really couldn't find anything to laugh at, so some dear soul has the discs, and good luck to them!
My problem really is, that I love popping into our local shops, chatting to the ladies (there are so many), and generally being an old pest!
We now have a 'click and collect' spot in our Tesco, but when I go online, the stuff we want isn't available, so the Scrobmobile becomes party to the excursion to see said gorgeous ladies - some whom I'm allowed to grasp, but only on New Year's DaY!
Sam - I can't see Sainsbury's stocking faggots.
Scrobs - we find Tesco does quite a lot of 'not available'. But it's handy, it works pretty well and the delivery drivers are cheerful.
Yeah, it's not all about Facebook and Twitter. It is pretty awesome that they can help out like that from half way across the world
I do one big online shop for delivery from Tesco every month and pop in for the perishables. When they don't have something, they substitute it and don't charge you the extra. That works great for me because I always order the cheapest stuff (Apart from bread. Has to be Warbys)
Bucko - we do a weekly online order from Tesco so we don't have to go out for the perishables, but I can see us moving to bigger and less frequent orders.
" I can't see Sainsbury's stocking faggots."
Oh yes they do:

I know of someone who does similar from Ireland, ordering shopping online for an aged parent in the UK.
Sobers - well spotted. I like them, although these have some poor reviews.
I can imagine an AI system eventually doing online shopping for people unable to do it themselves.
