And what are they going to do with it?

G7 nations close to historic deal to tax tech giants in plan that would 'change the world', says German finance minister

The plan to reform the taxation of tech firms and bring in a minimum level for business tax rates would "change the world".

What are they going to do with all those lovely billions? Piss it up the wall is my guess. Was that your guess too? Amazingly easy isn't it?

Crooked subsidies to begin with, followed by some ludicrously expensive virtue signalling. Here in the UK we begin with the coronavirus debacle, HS2, climate change...

Oh it's all gone already.

So, what is definition of a "tech giant"?
Toyota? IAG? Ali Baba?
Maybe it is "A big company we don't like"
Great news for accountants and lawyers.

They'll spend it on a furlough system for the sun and wind.

While I don't particularly 'love' the tech giants and consider that some (e.g. social media) should be regulated in a different way, most have no large sums of money waiting to be taken in 'tax'. Increase the tax paid by Amazon (say) and it will be paid indirectly by share holders, depressed employee wages, and higher customer prices. That is *us*, the ordinary people. I'll bet we see no reductions in income tax or VAT because of tech giants 'paying their share'.

It's governments ganging up on what they see as the 'tax worthy' in an easy political decision. Although I rather expect that the tech giants are too nimble to make the grab easy or low profile.

Give it to Dominion to get the results of their choice and save having elections.

Doonhamer - I'm sure you are right - each one is probably "A big company we don't like".

Wiggia - we need huge fans to create enough wind to keep the wind turbines going all the time.

Sam - or a new vaccine which allows us to hibernate all winter.

DJ - I'm sure you are right, the tech giants are too nimble for them.

Scrobs - I'm not convinced about the point of elections already.
