Other things to do, books I haven't read

Douglas Murray has better things to do than take much notice of the Pride movement. In telling us why, he is far too incisive for the BBC, or indeed the House of Commons.

It's quite possible to tolerate people with different lifestyles, but it's rather more difficult if they demand your respect.

I like the way Douglas Murray doesn't suggest that the alphabet people should be locked up or prosecuted - merely disregarded.

Excellent stuff. Being good at what he does, he has no need to go into organised politics. What makes politicians look insincere and weaselly in comparison is the fact that they have sold their souls for power. They have agreed to expound an agreed set of positions in return for safety and patronage.

DJ - that seems to be what many sane people resent, the loud demands for our respect. The barely disguised threats and "look at me" antics just make it worse.

Sam - yes, politicians have made a transparently dishonourable deal with power and don't even have the nous to disguise it. Some don't even try to disguise it.

You need to be pretty bright to be such a big name with The Speccie, which is more than can be said for most MPs, and especially the House of Lords!

Scrobs - yes he's far brighter than most MPs - probably all of them.
