Thank you for that. Sobering would be an understatement. I actually heard about this case when friends of mine studied it as part of a course on the Sociology of Sex and Gender in the late 1970s. This was a radical left-wing and feminist university, and even then they thought that it was blindingly obvious that the "nurture" theory was ridiculous.
I didn't know about the suicides and the sexual abuse. Somehow, neither surprised me.

Sam - I didn't know about any of it until quite recently. It's as if being academically trendy is a goal for certain people because it suits their personality and delivers the kudos.
This is the basis of an ideology that has captured the Western world. A complete failure as a theory and so the idiots adopt it!
Tammly - too many academics seem to prefer ideology over scientific rigour. In some fields it seems to be the easier way to build a career.
