July seems to be missing
Another grey day with a few heavy showers and rumbles of thunder here in Derbyshire. Another day when we can't sit out under the trees in the garden. I've checked the calendar and it still seems to be July which in previous years has been a summer month. Maybe climate change has repurposed it into some kind of intermediate month.
Perhaps the BBC has an explanation, although at the moment it seems to be concerned with paying huge sums of money to people I've never heard of. The market for nonsense, trivia and Autocue expertise certainly seems buoyant.

July was when I started blogging … we called this the silly season.
In July the sun is hot.
Is it shining? No it's not.
I never forget that.

July has been suspended because of allegations that it got into an improper on-line relationship with a much younger, colder month.
James - but it has expanded since then - no sensible season left.
Doonhamer - maybe August has moved
August, cold and dank and wet,
Brings more rain than any yet.
Sam - very good, but of course we aren't allowed to know the name of the younger month because it has done nothing improper.
"paying huge sums of money": my wife saw the Telegraph's front page this morning and said "Does Lineker make that much just for two shows a week?"
"Ho no", says I, "he only does the Saturday highlights show. Some more junior cove does the Sunday show."
I note too that Alan "Elbows" Shearer makes almost an annual half a million quid out of being the Most Boring Man on Television.
It's only football, for heaven's sake, the governing principle of which is that you should pass the ball to a bloke in the same colour of shirt.
The state of the weather is because the Scottish school holidays have started.
It's the same every year.
dearieme - the salary of the Most Boring Man on Television seems to puzzle a large number of people, including those who watch Match of the Day. It's an even bigger puzzle that Lineker's ridiculous haul.
Peter - and it will be even worse when we go on holiday towards the end of August.
The mere presence of the most boring man is as big a mystery as his salary, but one should be careful, the BBC and ITV are grooming, not in that fashion, a whole plethora of mainly useless boring women to take over the presenting and commentary of football and other sports.
Perhaps the most boring man is there as an example of attainablity to be aimed for.
Wiggia - I wonder if word gets around and people with genuine talent don't go there whatever the rewards.
