E-cigarettes: Primary school age children are ending up in hospital due to excessive vaping

Boys and girls of primary school age are becoming so ill from vaping they are ending up in hospital, a Sky News investigation can reveal.
Figures from NHS England show there were 15 cases where children aged nine or under needed to be admitted in the year to April, up from 12 last year and two the year before that.
A tragedy for those affected, but the numbers seem tiny. Mainstream media continually pump out scare stories dosed with individual tragedies, it's what they do. It doesn't mean we have to jump up and down about it. We may as well leave that to politicians and activists.
Our grandson tells us how widespread vaping is in his secondary school. Very easily obtained by underage youngsters we are told. Only an anecdote, but to my mind it suggests what a tiny percentage those numbers probably represent nationally. At the moment, this seems to be an important point - the numbers are tiny.

According to alcohelp (perhaps not entirely unbiassed) 1000 young people under the age of 15 are admitted to hospital each year with acute alcohol poisoning.
It would seem that excessive use of vaping by children is a tiny number in comparison.
It's just another pearl clutching article to fill column inches/pixels and another drip of 'Nanny Knows Best' authoritarianism.
See, cigarettes are safer than vaping because the vile taste of the smoke puts youngsters off imbibing too much nicotine.
The young who want to enjoy nicotine should be encouraged to smoke a pipe although, alas, Balkan Sobranie is apparently no longer available. Apart from the tin in my study, obviously.
Or how about snuff? Grand fun, snuff.
DJ - a pearl clutching filler I reckon. I suppose young people with acute alcohol poisoning is numerically far more serious than vaping but somehow not newsworthy enough. Can't compete with a few adults in a dodgy submarine either.
dearieme - the vile taste of a single Woodbine put me off smoking for life. I always liked the aroma of a pipe though - Balkan Sobranie was my father's favourite smoke.
