Old News and Bones

Lammy dismisses past criticism of Trump as 'old news'

The foreign secretary has dismissed his previous criticism of Donald Trump as "old news" and insisted he would be able to find "common ground" with the president-elect.

When he was a backbench MP in 2018, David Lammy described Trump as a "tyrant" and "a woman-hating, neo-Nazi-sympathising sociopath"...

Lammy praised his election campaign as "very well run", adding that: "I felt in my bones that there could be a Trump presidency."

Maybe, but his bones aren't very close to the surface are they?

The man is a clown, he came out with this ridiculous drivel as an MP, presumably with the ambition to take his career further than a backbench nuisance.

Some commentators, valuing consistency more than Lammy appears to do, have pointed out that slavery is even older news. We can just write it off and forget about it. No reparations, Dave.

There comes a point where people stop being a liability and turn into a national treasure. Lammy's best bet is to accelerate the process by going full student union on Putin or Xi Jinping,

Surely a season on 'Strictly' or 'In the Jungle' awaits? Eagerly.

Sam - I hope someone fires that lack of consistency at him, but Lammy as a national treasure takes some digesting. They have to do something with him though.

DJ - good idea, he may even enjoy it. We certainly would.

Maybe our esteemed Foreign Secretary will be shown The Donald's vast designer trainer shoe collection. If he is truly blessed he might be allowed to touch the blessed Jordan Airs. After that his ambition will be to surpass Antony Charles Lynton Miranda Blair in the WEF pantheon. Unlimited trainers! Wow.

Doonhamer - I wonder if he pays for his own trainers? Maybe he'll get his hands on a pair of Nike Davos for those special occasions.
