Not at all horrifying prediction

Warning as scientists make horrifying prediction as 30m people could die of brutal cause

A group of scientists have raised an alarm about how the climate change is going to take lives of 30m people by 2100.

Dr Andrea Pozzer, group leader, said: "In 2000, around 1.6 million people died each year due to extreme temperatures, both cold and heat. By the end of the century, in the most probable scenario, this figure climbs to 10.8 million, roughly a seven-fold increase.

"For air pollution, annual deaths in 2000 were about 4.1 million. By the century's close, this number rises to 19.5 million, a five-fold increase."

Embarrassingly obvious questions -

How many people will check these predictions in 2100?

How many of those who made the prediction will still be in a position to defend them after 76 years?

Embarrassingly obvious responses -

Where do they find these people?

Is it coffee time yet?

This is certainly time-capsule stuff, but overall I predict that car-battery fires will kill a lot of people due to heat, and declining pensions will cause a lot of people to freeze to death. Extrapolating from current trends, that is.

I have been alive for a long time (87 next month ) and have lost count of the "We are all going to DIE " panics. From Nuclear Destruction at the end of WW2 through DDT poisoning ,Global Freezing, Global Warming, Famine ,Disease, you name it, someone tries to start a panic response.
I strongly suspect that for most fearmongers the motive is either money, power or both together.
In another 20 or 30 years when the world has not ended I wonder what the next panic du jour will be, a shame I won't be around to see.

Sam - and extrapolating from current trends, we're all going to die, everyone doomed and the government isn't doing anything positive about it.

John - I agree, it's money, power or both together. Sometimes nothing more than a congenial career, well-paid with some overseas meetings every now and then.

How many numpties, celebrities, and politicians, such as Kerry, Obama, and Clinton, have claimed that rising sea levels will kill us all, and then buy mansions on the coast?
According to predictions by various, politically baised, eco groups, the Maldives should be under water by now (their new airport is said to be amazing).
Money grabbing charlatans all, allegedly.

Penseivat - I agree, money grabbing charlatans. There are 5 international airports in the Maldives apparently, shows how worried they are about rising sea levels.

Well they had to have something to replace fire and brimstone - be reasonable.

Coo this 'scientist' has everything covered, more heat, more cold, it's all man made climate change.

Tammly - yes the fire and brimstone analogy is a good one, that's what it is. They may as well lecture us from pulpits.
