Dame Barbara Hepworth: Sculpture from Wakefield-born sculptor auctioned for almost half a million pounds

A golden sculpture entitled Three Curves With Strings (Gold Mincarlo) by artist Dame Barbara Hepworth has been auctioned for almost half a million pounds.

If it's solid gold and twelve feet high, I'd say they got a bargain. Otherwise, though...

If you stare at it with both eyes nearly shut, it looks like a Poundland toy of ET...

Bargain at one hundred pence I'd say!

Sam - there is some gold in it, but I believe it's about six inches high. Not really big enough to convert into a posh lamp.

DAD - I think we could definitely say that.

Doonamer - "Agog (With Strings)" would have been a good title for it.

Scrobs - maybe that's how you are supposed to look at it.
