Budget fell far short on UK green investment, experts say
Opportunities to revive the UK’s flagging economy by boosting green industry were missed in one of the least green budgets of recent years, experts have said.
Several said this failure to recognise one of the fastest-expanding areas of business – the net zero economy grew by 9% in key areas last year, while the rest of the economy was stagnant, according to CBI estimates – would drag down the UK in the short and long term.
Alasdair Johnstone, of the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit, said: “At a time when the US and EU are competing over investment in clean industries, there was little here to attract investment.”

"There was a time when the Guardian was a newspaper." I have no memory of the Guardian being a newspaper but I can remember when the Observer was.

I too used to read the Observer as a newspaper, but then it got dragged down by the Grauniad opinionpaper and further down by the Guardianista progressive rag mag.
Many of the better journalists left - I wonder why?
dearieme - I read the Guardian for a while about fifty years ago and found it okay, but there were hints of nuttiness, particularly environmental. I didn't mind that at first, but it became too tedious.
DJ - good journalists may have seen the Guardian as a dead end, even compared to the tabloids.
It saves time to think of The Guardian as a trust fund with a sixth-form writers club attached.
