Keir Starmer made his pitch to 'vital' China today as Xi Jinping suggested the Communist state prefers Labour governments.
The PM held two hours of talks with the autocratic president in Beijing in the early hours of this morning, insisting he wants a more 'sophisticated' relationship.

I would rather Xi Jinping be cautious about the relationship rather than comfortable.
DJ - I agree, Starmer seems too keen on going beyond trade deals.
Alright I'll level with you, can I have a copy of your social credit system please.

Tammly - certainly, it's somewhere on this old Nokia.
Bucko - my understanding is that he could because the trip seems to have been mainly cultural bridge-building, but presumably it would have been significantly more problematic from within the EU and Xi wouldn't have been interested.
