The key take away point for these in power is not the people suffering higher crime rates or worse unemployment but the importance of spending more money on 'schemes'. Which will have to be administered, naturally.

dearieme - ha ha, I don't know that one.

DJ - yes, more schemes, that's what the important folk demand, and if they make things worse, why that shows a need for even more schemes.

A wonderful thing is funding. Sounds so much better than money, dosh, readies, moolalh, spondulicks. And it also makes it sound that it just materialises from another parallel universe. Nobody in this universe loses anything. Win, win.
Funding is often used for "investing" . Investment by politicians never ever needs to show a return. In fact any return is just an embarasment. It is better if the investment is just lost and fotgotten.

Doonhamer - yes it's one of the great failings of mainstream media, they go along with political euphemisms instead of telling it as it is. Or they lie by omission such as omitting to point out political "investments" which never could show a return.

There's a fake news article doing it's thing on Twitter, that says Xi has been called out for not questioning Starmer about is human rights abuses

Bucko - that sounds genuine to me, a chap like Xi is bound to be concerned about a number of ominous trends in Starmer's regime.
