'Complete non-starter': Jeremy Corbyn allies snub George Galloway's plea for political pact with ex-Labour leader
George Galloway's hopes of recruiting Jeremy Corbyn to his party have been dashed after sources close to the former Labour leader dismissed the idea he would join forces with the newly-elected MP for Rochdale.Daftness is the wanchancy thing that ye canna deal wi’. You have to be in a bad place when even Jeremy Corbyn does not wish to be contaminated by associating with you.
DJ - it works the other way too. You have to be in a bad place when George Galloway thinks of you as a potential ally, although his offer may be no more than a gesture towards Corbyn's supporters.
The substance is similar, but the style is too different. Corbyn works hard at presenting himself as the quietly reasonable middle class allotment bloke who dresses down and rides a bike to work. Galloway is a flash wide-boy who is clearly a working class bullshitter on the make. Geography teacher versus small garage owner.
Sam - yes, style is probably why the Corbyn camp rejected the offer.
