Knighthoods for MPs who caused Boris Johnson headaches
Ex-minister and COP26 president Alok Sharma also receives a knighthood.
Sir Alok led the UK's efforts to secure a deal at last year's climate conference in Glasgow.
Is the political climate likely to improve in 2023? Not without significant changes, but you knew that.
A happy and prosperous New Year to all.

Lang may yer lum reek, AKH.
I used to put inverted commas about any knighthood conferred on the advice of Toni Blair, in this style: "Sir" Toni Blair. I think it would be a useful convention to adopt more widely.
A guid new year tae yin an' a'.
I don't think there will be much change in either the climate or the political climate, although our elite will be working hard to pretend otherwise.
Happy New Year to everyone here!
dearieme - thanks and lang may your lum reek too. I agree about "Sir" Tony Blair and maybe it should be more widely applied too. "Sir" Alok Sharma for example - but crikey there must be lots more.
Jannie - thanks and the same to you and let's hope it isn't so guid for the usual suspects.
Sam - yes, all as bent as a butcher's hook and that's not going to change in 2023. Happy New Year though.
Smart Alok?
HNY to you, AKH, your good lady and this site.
James - ho ho ho, but yes, a smart Alok in a world where it's smart to be dumb. Happy New Year to you too.
On January 1 2023 I will begin my diet. My aim is to lose 1 kilo and thereby reduce the mass of humans on the planet. I will then wait to see if it has any impact.
Shvatio
Shvatio - if it has no effect, you can always go for 2 kilos.
Happy New Year to A K and family and fellow commenters!
