Dodgy Drone

North Korean drone reaches north of Seoul

South Korean military officials say North Korea has flown several drones across their mutual border.

The "unmanned aerial vehicles" violated South Korean airspace in the border areas around Gyeonggi province, said the country's joint chiefs of staff.

One of the drones flew to the north of the capital, Seoul.

I'm no expert, but from the photo it looks as if the wings fell off. Maybe there is a connection with this story -

N. Korean air force commander executed for failing to properly maintain drones

The loss of the UAVs due to poor management was too much of a political burden to cover up, so commanders dealt with the matter with extraordinary haste

Looks like the sort of light weight model aircraft/glider which has a one-piece wing attached to the fuselage by rubber bands, so it will suffer less damage if it crashes.

Dave - it does, doesn't it? Maybe the elastic from No.1 Supreme Elastic Factory had perished.

It must be tough if you have any sort of skill in North Korea. Would you risk earning a relatively decent living if failure meant execution?

I bet a lot of young science nerds keep their heads down and act dumb.

Looks more like a model aeroplane to me. Why would you put landing gear and wheels on a drone?

Looks like the pilot manage to get out easily...

I made one of those when I was eleven! Not very bright these N.Koreans are they!

Sam - I'm sure they do keep their heads down and leave it to the second-rate finger-pointers.

Woodsy - as if it was built by following model aircraft plans available on the internet.

Scrobs - from the look of it, anyone with a workshop could make one. The wheels look like hobby project wheels you can buy from Amazon.
