Too young, not enough experience

Under-fire Finnish PM Sanna Marin says even politicians need fun

Sanna Marin has insisted she works hard as Finland’s prime minister but should also be entitled to a private life, after a photograph taken at her residence of two topless women kissing sparked renewed criticism of her partying.

“I am human,” Marin told reporters on Wednesday at the conference of her Social Democratic party, describing the past week as “quite difficult”. On the verge of tears, she said she too sometimes longs “for joy, light and fun amidst the dark clouds”.

Yet another example of a major political figure who is clearly too young with nowhere near enough experience. A familiar symptom of our times.

At 34, I was very experienced, three children, family life, working.
We didn’t rely on family, to look after them, we lived in a different part of the country.
So my OH worked days and I got an evening job.
This woman has no experience of life, she lives, as many of the “entitled class” with money, she’s very childish, how on earth has she risen to the position she’s in.
There’s no curing stupid.

Anon - interesting and yes it is possible to be very experienced at her age, but as you say, she clearly isn't. She doesn't seem to be aware of it either.

She is 36.
And the winter nights are long up there.
Is she ruining her economy with wind turbines and solar panels. See previous sentence.
Our esteemed politicians would not indulge in any extra marital rumpy pumpy, houghmagandy or Ugandan discussions with corespondents of any gender.
Oh, no.
Aye. Right.
So I do not care what legal jiggery pokery they get up to in their out of office hours, just so long as their only professional preoccupation is the care of the countries existing citizens. Not poking their noses in other countries business and being generous with our taxes so they can smarm up to similar esteemed leaders.
Not sacrificing our economy in order to appease various groups, green, medical, military-industrial or bankers.

I don't begrudge anyone having fun, but if pictures like that are taken and get released to the press, I wonder whether she is associating with wise supportive people.

And that's being kind to her.

Doonhamer - what they get up to out of office hours can be a clue about how seriously they take the office hours and the people they have around them.

Sam - that's it, we pick up the clues where we can and this is a clue.

James - it is, although voters vote for such people.
